Giantess Geyser, a fountain-type geyser, earns its mighty name during its violent and infrequent eruptions. Multiple water bursts reach between 100 - 200 feet (30-60 m) high. Eruptions generally occur 2 - 6 times a year. The surrounding area may shake from underground steam explosions just before the initial water and/or steam eruptions. Eruptions may occur twice hourly, experience a tremendous steam phase, and continue activity for 4 - 48 hours.
